GUYS.
The latest A Game of Shadows torrent (uploaded a couple of days ago on Demonoid, around 4.3GB, has Dutch subtitles on top of Mandarin ones) is probably the best quality version of the film out right now.

Every time I see that scene, I cry. The way they look at each-other for the last time, how Holmes seems to say “sorry” with his eyes as he obliges Watson to see his seems-to-be-suicide. Really. That’s simply too much.
And I’m not talking as a fan of the movies, but as a fan of the books, which I read a lot of time before the movie was out.
First of all: 2009, Rithie’s movie has success and mysteriously someone at the BBC had the idea of portraying another Sherlock Holmes. Seriously? None never thought they could have done it a lot of time before? Why did they wait, to exploit the movie’s success? Then, the second movie comes out, the second series comes out a month later. What did they do, they organized it to have them together to make a comparison? Always like that.
Then again, I’ve seen so many things that the writers could avoid because they had already been used by Ritchie. For example, Moriarty. I understand he is Holmes’ nemesis, but he had been used not so many months before for the movie, didn’t they find something else in 1240 pages? Or Irene Adler. She is in the canon for three pages of the story “A Scandal in Bohemia”, no one knew about her, but she’s been used by Ritchie, there’s a love interest with Holmes, and there, she appeared and she fell in love for Holmes. To not tell the critics BBC character received, by the way.
Now, I’ve seen just the first series, and I didn’t like it so much, but I’ve seen everything about the second here on tumblr, and I’ve seen other things that I had already seen somewhere else: Sherlock in a hotel room after Adler’s visit without clothes on. Already seen. And why the hell did the last episode finish EXACTLY in the same way as the movie, though we all already knew from two years that A Game of Shadows would have been based on that? Couldn’t they think to something else and use Reichenbach for a third series? And Sherlock jumps down in front of Watson’s eyes. Already seen too.
The bromance between the two characters. Who read the book probably had seen some hints there, but the bromance between Holmes and Watson had never been taken under consideration before the 2009 movie. And after a few months, came out this series that took exactly what was best of that movie.
The same for John Watson. He had always been seen as a patient guy, eho respected Sherlock greatly and would never say a bad word to him or respond in such a manner to him. Jude Law had made a more irreverent character and Freeman as another irreverent character a few months later. ALREADY S.E.E.N.
And Sherlock. Didn’t like him at all. Have nothing about the character himself, but simply this is not Sherlock Holmes. It’s just another character with the same name. I swear, I have read ALL the canon and an apocryphal novel and I can assure there is nothing of the original Sherlock. Now I’m pretty sure someone will tell me that neither Robert DOwney Jr.’s is, then I’d deny. Because there are a few differences, like the physical appearence and the lack of hygene, but in all the rest, he is exactly the same Holmes of the books, and it’s not me telling, but the experts of Holmes. They said he is the best Holmes ever portrayed.
Really, didn’t like BBC at all.
